Matthew Chapter 24 We return once again to Luke’s account, Verses 28-30 and 32, which parallel that of Matthew’s account. “Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed… Remember…
Matthew Chapter 24 VERSE 40 and 41 “Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken and the other left.” Whither Gathered–the Attraction Here is where we jump back to that earlier verse we skipped in our study, Matthew 24 Verse 28. “And they [the disciples] answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? [Where will these be TAKEN?] And he said…
Matthew Chapter 24 Continuing the previous post on the things due during the day of the revelation of our Lord’s presence, Jesus says: “I tell you in that night (before the day has dawned yet a part of that day) there will be two in a bed; one will be taken and the other left.” (Luke 17:34 Diaglott) Some of this we have already mentioned and thus is repetitive, nevertheless it is the Lord’s chosen way in which to instill…
Matthew Chapter 24 We continue our look at the parallel account in Luke. Luke 17:31-33 continued, “In that day (the day when the Son of Man is revealed), he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. Remember Lot’s wife. Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose…
Matthew Chapter 24 “But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the presence [Greek parousia] of the Son of Man be.” (Matt 24:37) Here Jesus’ “presence” (parousia) is compared to Noah’s 120-year presence prior to the Flood. Of course Noah lived for more than 120 years prior to the flood, 600 to be exact, however the comparisons was only to the 120 years in which Noah lived prior to the flood. It was then that the Lord warned…
Matthew Chapter 24 As in the Days of Noah, “They Knew Not“ VERSE 37-39 KJV “But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the presence [Greek parousia] of the Son of Man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and KNEW NOT until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the…
Matthew Chapter 24 VERSE 35 and 36 “Heaven and earth [the present ecclesiastical and social order] will pass away, but my words will by no means pass away. But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.” Compare this with the words of Mark (13:32, 33) “But of that day and hour knows no man; no not the angels of heaven, NOR THE SON, but my Father only. Take ye…
Matthew Chapter 24 The margin of the NKJV interprets Matt 24:33 as: So you also, when you see all these things, know that He is near—at the doors! The following are several translations who interpret it so: “In the same way, when you see all these things, you can know his return is very near, right at the door.” (NLT) “So, you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door.” (ASV) “In…
Matthew Chapter 24 We continue from our previous post. Verse 34 “Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.” What “generation” is being referred to here? The generation that sees “all these things” (Verse 33) In Scripture a generation can have various time lengths: 38, 40, 70, 80, 100, and 120 years. Which time length is applicable here? In the Wilderness, 40 years was a generation to the Israelites….
Matthew Chapter 24 As taken from the Book of Matthew (Brother Frank Shallieu) Verse 32 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near.” The “fig tree” represents the Jewish nation, as shown by several Scriptures. Jer 24:15 mentions two baskets of figs, and Jer 8:13 also connect figs with the nation of Israel. In the New Testament, Jesus cursed the fig tree, picturing…
